Vehicle Care
EV Owners: Why EV-Safe Detailing Chemistry Matters
The Eastside has one of the highest concentrations of electric vehicles in the country — Teslas, Rivians, Mercedes EQ models, and more in nearly every neighborhood. EVs are wonderful to own, but they have some genuine differences that affect how they should be detailed. Here’s what actually matters.
EVs aren’t just “quiet gas cars”
A few things set them apart when it comes to cleaning:
- Sensitive sensors and cameras. EVs are loaded with driver-assist sensors, cameras, and radar units. Harsh, high-pressure cleaning in the wrong spots — or the wrong chemicals on sensor housings — isn’t worth the risk.
- High-voltage components. EVs are designed to be washed safely, but their layout means a knowledgeable, careful approach matters more than blasting everything with maximum pressure.
- Specialty finishes and trim. Many EVs use matte accents, piano-black panels, and unique interior materials that react badly to aggressive, generic cleaners.
What “EV-safe chemistry” actually means
It means using cleaners with the right pH and formulation for modern finishes, applied with the right technique — not the harshest degreaser on the shelf. Gentle-but-effective products protect sensitive trim, sensor housings, and delicate interior materials while still cutting through real grime. It’s the difference between cleaning a car and cleaning this car, correctly.
We use EV-safe chemistry on every detail, which is one reason so many EV owners across the Eastside trust us with vehicles they care a lot about.
EVs still get just as dirty
Because EVs are quiet and low-maintenance mechanically, it’s easy to forget they need the same care as any other vehicle. They still collect brake dust (less of it, thanks to regenerative braking, but it’s there), road film, pollen, and interior wear. A regular Gold Detail keeps an EV looking as advanced as it drives, and the Platinum Detail adds paint sealant that’s especially worthwhile on the bold single-tone colors EVs are known for.
